Ski Poles

A Ski Pole is a Ski Pole, or is it? Well technically yes, practically maybe not. Having Ski Poles that are too long or too short can throw your whole body position, preventing you from both developing your technique and enjoying yourself to the full.

You'll be best with slightly shorter poles if you love your moguls and piste skiing, slightly longer ones with wider baskets if you like being off in the back country as much as you can.

As a general "rule of thumb", we recommend that with your knees just very slightly bent and holding your Ski Poles immediately under their baskets, when the top of the Ski Pole handle is on the floor, the angle at your elbow should be 90 degrees.

For Touring, we also have adjustable poles so you can fine tune their length to suit conditions, or set them at different lengths to make long, climbed traverses easier.

Whilst most Ski Poles are made from Aircraft Aluminium (of varying thickness and diameter) some are also made from Carbon and other Composite materials, with these usually being lighter and thinner in diameter to reduce "wind drag" at high speed.
