Getting a great fit by trying helmets on is good; buying a 56cm helmet because you have a 56cm circumference head is not good. If you do wear a "wrongly shaped" helmet it can be more dangerous than not wearing one at all.
Nowadays helmets aren't just worn for safety, helmets are a huge fashion statement! That's why we have got loads of different colours, sizes and fitting helmets for you to give a try so that you can make sure you are totally comfortable with your new lid! Your Head is a critical part of your body, please do you utmost to protect it.
Buying helmets online is a thoroughly bad idea as heads are very inconsistent in their shape, there really is no substitute for trying a helmet on to see if it fits properly with no rocking or "breadbinning". Its circumference measurement is of only very minor importance, whereas the internal shape of the helmet matching the external shape of your head is critical.
In any case our policy is that for reasons of both Hygiene and Safety we are unable to accept the return of Helmets and no refund will be given for any that are returned to us, either in person or by post/courier.
It's a really good move to take your goggles with you when you go to buy any new helmet to ensure the two are compatible; unless of course you intend to replace both at the same time.
Helmets come with all different safety systems that work in different ways to keep your head safe when you're throwing backflips and jumping cliffs.
All the different systems can be confusing (even we get confused), that's why we have a team of trained helmet fitters and advisers in store that can tell you why one works better for your type of skiing or snowboarding or to give fashion advice on which will fit match your jacket!
