We say:-

The Ski is a little different in its skiability to most of the Scott range in that we felt it does require you to ski it a little more positively than many of their others in order to get the best out of it.

Whereas with say an Adventure, Layla, a Reverse or a Luna you know you can have a relaxed ski or go for a blast and have equally as much fun, we felt (particularly me, John, ageing but still skiing pretty ok) that they really didn't come into their own until you started to push them; then they were awesome.

Our younger testers, Jakey and Sophie found this much less of an issue but then, Jakey, spent several years racing for the GB Juniors and Sophie is still a very active and extremely good racer, so their skiing is noticeably more dynamic at all times than mine, even when they're "cruising".

So our view is that "The Ski" has been a great addition to the already superb range of Scott Skis, particularly as it really does add something quite different in skiing characteristics to the established classics of their range.  Great edge hold, dynamic drive, smooth, its powered turns are effortless, it's great across all but the deepest of deep powder but you do need to ski them, however, when you do they really are truly superb.

Jake Says-

Second year on the market. The Ski has proven itself to be a cracking piece of kit. Handling the whole mountain brilliantly. Its construction prevents any forms of chatter or flap when hitting higher speeds on icier days, and its rockered tip prevents any form of ‘diving’ into the snow when skiing powder. Perfect for the heavier or slightly more aggressive skier, being it a little stiffer than others in its class. Some people love the graphic and other find it quite dull, either way, it will soon prove itself once strapped on to your feet. If you’re more of a piste skier, then check out the new Black Majic from Scott.

Scott say:-

The Ski has been developed to handle all types of skiing and terrain conditions. It has a unique sandwich construction offering exceptional torsional stiffness and a full length wood core for unmatched homogenous flex.

With 3dimension sidecut and a Pro-Tip rocker profile, the ski provides unmatched performance and versatlity.

The Ski comes in different colours for each length, 155-yellow165 - blue 175 - white, 180 - red

Both my wife and I are advanced skiers who want a good all mountain ski (and, in particular, something wider than our current skis which are too narrow for powder). We recently skied using K2 Raptors. I enjoyed them. However, my wife thought they gave her less feedback than her Salomon Tornados. We have read very good reviews for Scott the Ski and they seem to meet out needs. Would you recommend? Also what binding would you suggest?

    Good Afternoon Hugh,

Thanks for your enquiry about "all mountain skis" of which there are some very good ones about at the moment.  Scott, The Ski is a very versatile ski, slightly different in its characteristics for each length (the dimensions change as the length changes so each respective longer length is noticeably wider than its shorter "sibling" giving proportionally more float as the ski length increases.

Others well worth a serious look are the Fischer Ranger/Koa series the Nordica NRGY 90 and 100's and their corresponding ladies skis the  Wild Belle and Belle to Belle's and the Blizzard Bushwacker/black Pearl's.

I hope this gives further food for thought, please do not hesitate to call either me or Jakey on 01603 716655 if it would help to chat though both binding and ski options.

    Kind regards

    John and Team at Snowfit
