Question:

Hi. Looking to replace some old Salomon Siam 5s which I loved. Are these the equivalent? Thanks.

Thanks for your enquiry about the Pure White skis.

When the Siam 5 came out it was the lightest ladies all mountain ski on the market and although the dimensions of the PW are similar that is really where any similarity ends.  In todays terms, the PW is both narrow waisted and heavy.  In 2006 70mm waists were considered "all mountain" (at that time piste skis were generally 63-69mm underfoot), now ladies all mountain skis come in a much wider range of waist widths but are generally from 78mm underfoot (mainly piste orientated all mountain) to 95mm underfoot (more of a freeride all mountain, capable of serious of piste/back country skiing).

I would only suggest the PW's to an avid piste skier who has absolutely no intention of venturing off the marked trails.  If, as I imagine, your skiing is of an ability and direction that could take you almost anywhere on the mountain, other than "expeditionary off piste" then you should definitely be looking at a different type of ski.

My suggestions would be, seriously consider one of the following:-

    K2 Supersweet

    Fischer Koa 80 or 84

    Line Celebrity

    Blizzard Black Pearl

    Scott Layla

    Hope this helps

    Kind regards
