Helmets

With more and more people now wearing helmets they are now the cool thing to wear on your head. Now well vented and exceptionally light you barely know your are wearing one.

We have over 80 different styles in stock from hard sided race helmets to soft sided freeride and freestyle helmets , Junior to XXL, plain to garish.

Bottom line is they have to fit correctly, so the head really needs to come to the shop as it's the internal shape not the size measurement that needs to be right.

One brand's medium is the same size as another's large, as another's small, it really is hopeless as there is no standardisation in sizing. Even where the cm circumference is quoted that is no guarantee one brand's 58cm helmet will fit the same as another's 58cm helmet, it really is very frustrating for us sreiously specialist retailers who are concerned about fit.

As for companies that market just one type of helmet cheaply with for example a package holiday or harware set up, we'll leave you to guess how responsible we think that is. An ill fitting helmet is after all more dangerous than no helmet at all!

Please get yours fitted by someone who cares, not someone who is just looking to take your money.

Skiing and Snowboarding in Australia, New Zealand and beyond
What’s going on now it’s “Summertime”.

Well it can’t have escaped your attention that Spring is turning out to be the coldest for years. In fact it’s been so cold that the North Atlantic hasn’t warmed up as usual and as a result the migrating Humpback Whales that normally drop in to keep us amused off the western coasts of the UK haven’t bothered to turn up, no plankton blooms, no lunch!

Then we’ve had snow causing delays on the Giro Italian cycle tour where they had to get the snowploughs out again. There has also been snow several times and in several places in the UK in mid-May, another foot of snow the last week of May in several higher resorts in the Alps; so several glaciers in Europe and further afield are still in great condition. Yes there’s evidence of climate change, but, maybe in a good way for us skiers and snowboarders.
