We Say:-

Ah! What a fun ski. Marketed, as a backcountry freestyle ski the Soul Rider is in a class of its own. With Camrock technology, which means the ski has both a blend of Camber and Rocker (smart), means that the Camber underfoot provides solidity throughout the turn and on icier days, with the tip and tail rocker ensuring quick and easy maneuverability. The Soul Rider will float in the soft stuff, including whilst skiing switch, and it will be super nimble from edge to edge when skiing on piste. It is such a fun ski wherever you want to take it, and its graphic for the 2015 season it quite simply pure class, mixing a matt black top sheet with black gloss. I’m glad that Nordica hasn’t changed the Soul Rider this season because quite simply, they’ve already got it right.

Nordica says:-

Designed specifically for intuitive skiers who create new experiences on every run. Nimble through the trees, floating through the powder, dancing through the park or floating spins in the air, this ski does it all. The easy control of camROCK and versatility of a twin tip design give you the freedom to do what you want.

Question:

Hi im looking to get my first pair of skis, im an intermediate/ advanced skiier. i was part of a race club for a year but want to get into doing some beginner freestyle, so am looking for something that i can take down a piste confidently, but when i want to can take off piste and take over a few jumps. Im about 6ft and weigh about 63kg (10 stone). I was wondering if this would be a good ski for me and what size you'd recommend? (im used to shorter skis atm - so i was thinking maybe the 177)

    Good Morning Jack

Thanks for your enquiry about the Nordica Soul Rider's.  They are an excellent and extremely versatile ski which we rate very highly.  Jakey, our ex-Racer absolutely loved them on test last Feb and believe me, he will push them hard both on piste and off a few jumps.  The waist width is more than sufficient to give good float in soft snow, particularly at your weight (Jakey's only about 9 1/2 stone) so all in all a great all rounder.

As regards length, I agree with you, I see no need to go longer then the 177 which gives you an on snow running length of about 160cm by the time you've taken both the Rocker and twin elements into consideration; comparable to a 165 race ski.

Would suggest pairing them with a Marker Squire or Griffon, could also go for the Head Attack 13 (sort of their version of the Griffon.  These should be up on our site as a "bundle option" when you click on the soul Rider skis.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    John and Team
