Line Mr Pollard's Opus Freeride Ski

All skis are waxed, brushed out and carefully packed

Mr Pollard’s Opus continues after its huge success last year. Again featuring the standard early rise tip and tail and early taper that you would expect from Eric, but again without the giant waist width making this one of the most fun backcountry skis around and ideal for jibbing around in the powder. EP says it’s aimed at being the most versatile freestyle powder ski on Earth, by all accounts it probably is.

More active edge length than most other brands, almost 20% extra in fact on average so much less slip, much more grip on hard pack and ice. The lower profile tip/tail 68mm allow the Opus’s to plane and not plough through soft snow.

Surprisingly comfortable around resort for what, although not ridiculously wide, is still a big ski. New this season is the 192cm length giving even greater float for the bigger rider.

Question:

What bindings would you suggest for the Line Eric Pollard Opus 2012/13 given I'm 195cm 80kgs and skiing reasonably hard, Cheers, M

There's a number of bindings that could work well, perhaps our most frequently mounted bindings for skis like the Opus or SF Bacon's are the Marker Griffon's, DIN 4-13, so giving a good range of settings for all but the "most insane" skiers amongst us.

At 80kg and as an upper end, Type 2 skier (athletic with purpose)  these would cover you well without you having to spend loads on ,for example, a Jester or suchlike.  Other bindings we've used successfully that come in a little cheaper than the Griffon, but still robust enough to do the job are the Fischer X13, a Tyrolia binding, branded for Fischer with a diagonal release at the heel as well as the toe, good for freeriding but not so popular amongst the pure freestylers, the Head Mojo 12's, essentially the same binding but with a slightly softer spring set DIN 4-12 and the Salomon STH 12's, (standard up/down heel release).

Where you fancy a binding we stock but where that ski/binding combination isn't showing underneath the description of the ski, (as a pre-loaded package), then drop us another line and we'll set it up for you with 10% off our standard, binding only price shown on the site.
