Question:

What temperature is the wildcard jacket good for. Im going to norway on a cruise in winter and need something that will cope with temperatures of down to minus 20

    Hello Dawn

I sorry we seem to have been a couple of days picking this one up, anyway, I hope this is still of some help.

The Javket in question is one of the Columbia "Omni-Heat" range and is the same basic construction and insulation as the Columbia Jackets we have as Shop jackets for our Winter Skiing and Snowboarding trips, where we too have encountered air temperatures of below -20C.  As we move at speed on skis or snowboards we can easily make that feel like a  still air temp of closer to -30C.

We have had no issues of not feeling warm enough on our travels, however, like all cold weather gear, it is most effective if the outer jacket (and trousers) are used as part of an overall layering of clothing which comprises a good quality outer layer, a good quality base layer next to the skin and a mix of different mid layers as determind by temperature (just none of the layers being particularly thick and bulky).

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    John and Team at Snowfit
