The Latigo from Blizzard was a new introduction to their 2015 range and has already won a Gold Award from 'Fall Line Magazine'.  On our ski test we were blown away with the Latigo's performance across a variety of conditions - so much so that shop staff member Jake took it as his ski of choice for his BASI Course.  He came back saying not only had it been admired for its performance and looks, but that he couldn't have chosen a better ski to take with him.  We had a few additional testers this year and they were equally as surprised by its all round ability.

So what is it we like about it?  For a 78mm underfoot all mountain ski it generates noticeably more float than you might expect (in a similar way to the Scott Aztec) and with its superb edge grip gives great confidence across a huge range of slopes and conditions.  More powerful than you might expect, it is nonetheless a relatively easy ski to ride and its forgiving nature in itself inspires confidence.  The newest and narrowest 'Flipcore' ski, the Latigo is the energetic and snappier cousin to the wider freeride skis in 'Blizzard's' range.  The Latigo is lightning quick in the bumps and effortless edge-to-edge on groomers making this ski a ton of fun in a svelte, nimble package. Early rise tip and tail, with camber underfoot combines with Flipcore for an energetic, lively ride in a variety of conditions.

'Flipcore' technology is a revolutionary new rocker technology exclusive to Blizzard.  Natural spring, lightweight floatation in powder, while yet retaining excellent stability are the immediate advantages of Blizzard’s new construction. All of this is made possible by matching the core shape and the mold shape which are both produced in the final shape of the ski. The natural rocker shape is produced without having to bend or artificially shape the ski in a press. The end result is a new rockered construction that reaches a new level of stability and even pressure distribution that is unheard of in freeride ski construction We are redefining how Freeride Skis are built. Flipcore is a Unique Camber Technology that will turn the freeride world upside down.

The narrowest of Blizzard's Freeride All-Mountain line, the Latigo is a 78mm ski that bridges the gap between race-inspired technology and a freeride feel. Lightning quick from edge-to-edge and effortless in the bumps, the Latigo is a frontside go-to for skiers lapping the chairlift at their home resort. Camber underfoot, rocker in the tip and tail, and Flipcore technology make for an energetic, lively, and nimble ride.

FlipCore is a revolutionary rocker technology. The advantages of the new structure are: natural flex, incredible floatation in powder snow and excellent stability. The natural rocker shape is produced without having to bend or artificially shape the ski in a press. The end result is an innovative rocker that opens up a new level of stability together with even pressure distribution on the ski.

  • Optimal pressure distribution on the edges
  • Skis are extremely easy to use and manoeuvrable
  • Floatation effect
  • Stability at high speed
  • Natural flex
  • Great grip and stability

The sidewall built into the ski construction provides the following advantages:

  • Improved transmission of skier’s movements to edge
  • Constant pressure along the entire length of the ski
  • Greater stability of the entire structure
  • Impeccable control
  • Maximum carving performance

Ski profile with a rocker at the tip and tail, camber in the middle. Reducing the pressure on the edge at the tip and tail makes the ski even easier to handle and increases floatation on powder snow. The camber guarantees great grip on packed snow in any case.
